The Best Photo to Upload for a Custom Pet Portrait
Every Furmous portrait starts with one thing you fully control: the photo you upload. Get that right and the render comes back looking unmistakably like your pet. Here’s what makes a great source photo, and the few things worth avoiding.
Start with a clear, well-lit photo
Bright, in focus, taken in good light. Daylight near a window beats a dim room every time. The model works from what it can see, so a sharp photo hands it your pet’s real colours, markings, and face shape to draw from.

Get the face in frame
A portrait lives or dies on the face. Aim for eyes visible and the head turned roughly toward the camera. A relaxed, natural expression carries more personality than a stiff, posed one.
One pet per photo
Upload a single pet at a time. Two animals in one shot confuse the render and you’ll get a weaker result, so give each best friend their own photo and their own portrait.
What to skip
- Heavy filters, which hide the real colours the model needs.
- Sunglasses, hats, or costumes that cover the face.
- Very dark, blurry, or far-away shots.
No resolution rules, though. A normal phone photo is plenty.
Quick checklist
- Bright and in focus
- Face and eyes visible
- One pet, no filters
That’s it. Pick your photo, choose a scene, and you’ll get four original designs back, free to preview before you decide. Make yours →
